The Christian faith is unique in that it has as its leader
One who not only sees our pain and suffering but has
gone through similar experiences and sympathises with
In this issue of Every Day with Jesus, Selwyn considers
the comfort to be found in knowing Jesus the Wounded
Healer. He experienced loneliness, temptation, pain,
unjust criticism, prejudice, grief and being
misunderstood, abandoned and forsaken. His wounds
answer our wounds. But unlike any other sympathiser,
Jesus also offers healing.
We may never fully grasp the deep mystery of
suffering, but God has not left us floundering. We can
find that although He often doesn’t take away our pain,
He is with us in our pain. Jesus offers the example of
how to meet suffering and gives us the strength to face
whatever comes our way.
